Not everybody likes a large phone with a premium price tag so just like Samung, HTC have created a mini version of their flagship device.

The HTC One Mini brings most of the features of its bigger brother the HTC one including an aluminium body, ultra pixel camera, boom sound stereo speakers and Sense 5 for android.

Looking at the front of the device it strongly resembles the HTC one but looking at the overall size it is only 5 mm smaller in both length and width so how much of a mini device is it really? 5 mm may not seem like much but along with being 20 g lighter the HTC one mini is fits nicely into the pocket and hand.

The overall design of HTC One mini is practically the same except for a little glossy plastic on the side of the device as opposed to the mat plastic on HTC one.

The screen is 4.3 inches in diameter with 720p resolution making for a pixel density of about 342 ppi which of course isn’t as sharp as the 1080p on its big brother but in order to tell the difference you would have to be looking really hard. Colour reproduction, colour depth and viewing angle are great which is really what counts.

The 4.3 inch super LCD screen protected is by gorilla Glass three upgraded from gorilla glass 2 on the HTC One. At the bottom of the device are two capacities buttons for navigating back and home. Just like HTC one above and below the screen are the stereo speakers which are much better than any of the device on the market at the moment and on par with the HTC One .

The front facing camera is 1.2 megapixel and records 720p video, turning the phone over the back is made of aluminium and aesthetically is one of the best we’ve seen. Being only 9.3 mm thick HTC have not compromised the thickness of the device to make it a little smaller like many of its competitors.

HTC One Minis Ultra mega pixel camera uses the same 4 megapixel sensor as the HTC one with the same F2 .0 lens as well as proprietary image chip 2 which deals with the extra processing features required to run the new Zoe feature the only thing we can see that it lacks is the optical image stabilisation.

The processing power in HTC one mini is a 400 MHz dual core snapdragon processor with a 1800 mAh capacity battery giving it more than enough power to run the latest android operating system 4.2.2 to jelly bean with HTCs Sense 5 for most of the day.

The main feature on the home screen is an application known as blink feed which pulls news features from over 10,000 different providers as well as updates from your social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Direct from this application you can also post updates to the social networks.

As you move deeper into the device you will find that the application draw which shows very few icons but this can be easily customised enabling you to load it with shortcuts from your favourite applications. One of the useful things we’ve found with the new android 4.2 is the ability to put multiple widgets on the lock screen which is especially useful for things like the music player or volume and power settings

As mentioned before the camera features Zoe mode it enables to HTC One Mini to quickly snap full resolution photos and a video clip which can be used later to remove unwanted objects or to make sure everybody in the photo is smiling. Video clips can be automatically stitch together to make a call video highlights. The camera on the one mini can record at 1080p and HDR mode.

Overall HTC has done fantastic job incorporating almost all of the features of the HTC One in a smaller device at a great price.

If you are one of those who desire a slightly smaller and lighter device this would be a fantastic option and one of the best midrange smart phones on the market today.
